A (Not So) Quick Review of Court of Mist and Fury

Spoiler for the A Court of Mist and Fury.

Wow, it’s been a minute!

That the trouble with data entry positions as a writer. The last thing you want to do after hours of typing is go home and do it all over again. On top of that I’ve just been generally burnt out from have to wakeup at 5am to get to work despite naturally being a night owl.

The Best Book In The Series

The one good thing about the job is that I can listen to audiobooks for 8 hours straight. That means biggest barrier for getting through each 20+ hour ACOTAR novels is the Libby waitlist. But after about 5 months, I’ve gotten through the series to date…And I have thoughts.

For the most part, this post will be about A Court of Mist and Fury. I already made a separate post discussing the first book, A Court of Thornes and Rose, here.

A Quick Review of Just Like Home

Wow! It’s been forever since I did one of these. Sorry about that.

I’ve been super busy and haven’t had much free time to read. But then, I found out the Libby app has audiobooks!

Just Like Home is the second Sarah Gailey book I’m reviewing for this series. The first was Upright Women Wanted, which you can find here.

The way that Gailey handles narratives was just so intriguing to me. They would be so flippant yet confident about their world-building that I decided to find another Gailey book. I needed to see if they would be my new favorite author or if this was just a fluke.

A Quick Review of Upright Women Wanted

You thought it would be part 2 of that Star Wars Rewrite, but it was me, A Quick Review!

But seriously, I feel bad for how I pretty much abandoned this series. I had a lot of free time for reading when I started this series, but I got a job as a frontline healthcare worker, so I lost all my downtime real quick. As a result, this will probably be the last A Quick Review for a minute. (At least until I get an Audible account or something.)

For now, let’s send this series off with a book that’s gay and it slaps.

Sorry, I’ve been on TikTok for too much.

A Quick Review of ‘Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want To Come: One Introvert’s Year of Saying Yes’

How perfect is it that the review that’s taken the longest to write is titled that?

To be fair, I live in Georgia, so quarantine ended right after I announced this series. Goodbye free time, hello anxiety.

A Quick Review of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

This picture foreshadows some future reviews I’ll probably write.

I wasn’t prepared for how funny and clever this book turned out to be.

Reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (which will now be referred to as simply Hitchhiker’s) was like listening to a Dungeons and Dragons podcast. It was a wakey adventure that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Hitchhiker’s is fun, incredibly creative, and has excellent world-building.

A Quick (and Incomplete) Review of Wicked

This is the first book I’m reviewing that I never finished and have no intention of finishing. I can’t even tell you that much about the plot because it’s been over a year since I shelved it. When I thought about reading it again, I remembered how much of a chore it was to read. The format of this review will be a little different than normal. Alright, let’s talk about Wicked

A Quick Review of the Lady Julia Grey Novels

Because I’m still procrastinating, here’s another book series that I already started.

Flashback to 2011. Borders was going out of business and books were cheap, so I picked a random book off the shelf. I believe I was in high school at the time, so this was the first time that I picked a book that wasn’t in the manga section.

A Quick Review on Baccano! Light Novels 1-6

(For anyone who doesn’t know, a light novel is a kind of young adult novel in Japan. The ones I’ve read usually clock in just under 200 pages with pictures sprinkled in. If you hear that an anime has a novel linked to it, then chances are its a light novel.)

I found the Baccano! series through anime. Back when Hulu was still free to everyone, I would watch every decent anime dubs that I could get my grubby little paws on. (For anyone who doesn’t watch dubs, I was a busy college student tried from reading. At the time a good dub was a godsend.)
